  • Duncan Cameron comes to The Launch Factory with over 20 years of technology experience including sales, marketing and operations, both as a practitioner and consultant. In this time, Duncan has re-invented his career three times and continually looks to take best in class thinking from other industries. He has always thrived working with start-up companies by helping them to add rigor to their thinking and processes, without sacrificing time, quality or creativity.

    Over the span of his career, he has had hand-on experience in over 15 industries, including automotive, aerospace, CPG, logistics, natural resources, food and beverage, retail and telecoms.

    Duncan holds a BSc. from Queen's University in mathematics, and has been certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) and integrated resource management (CIRM) by APICS.

  • Ash's career as a technology marketer has found him at a wide range of companies, from billion-dollar enterprise software vendors, to 30-person, early-phase businesses. As a result, he performs equally well in fast moving start-ups as he does in more established environments.

    As Industry Marketing Manager with Baan Company, Ash managed the launch of several of Baan's most successful industry offerings, including products targeted at the automotive, electronics, aerospace, and industrial products markets. Ash also served as an Alliance Marketing Manager as part of the team managing Baan's relationship with IBM, and was responsible for bringing to market bundled solutions that combined both companies' offerings.

    During his time as Vice President of Marketing for Entrevision (now nurun) he spearheaded a thorough repositioning of that company's consulting offerings, and helped to position the company for its subsequent acquisition by Quebecor.

    As Product Marketing Manager at i2, Ash played a key role in launching the company into the B2B e-business space. In his four years with the company he also managed the release and launch of i2's technology infrastructure.

    Ash holds an MBA from Queen's University, and a BA from McGill.

  • Geoff is a senior executive with a broad perspective gained over 30 years of information technology and marketing experience in three countries. His background combines line management and "Big Five" consulting experience.   • Barry has over 12 years of broad-based business planning and operations experience, primarily within the telecommunications marketplace. His core expertise includes demonstrated results identifying, analyzing, planning and implementing new business opportunities. Barry is accustomed to formulating, executing and documenting project plans for both large scale, cross-functional initiatives and smaller entrepreneurial start-ups alike.

    Currently Barry utilizes his strong understanding of telecom economics and his continuing interest in new technologies that will re-shape the industry in an independent consulting capacity for established or early stage technology ventures across North America.

    Previously Barry built a national ISP from initial concept, through product design and funding, to complete implementation in less than five months.

    Prior to that Barry was a founding member of an entrepreneurial team established to build a capital efficient, global backbone to serve the IP network services market. Through strategic alliances, acquisitions and creative negotiations, their strategy of building a variable cost, 2.5gig IP-over-wavelength backbone was achieved in less than 120 days from funding.

    After spending four years in Nortel's Professional Services organization Barry joined a small, Mid-Atlantic regional Verizon reseller to build a network infrastructure planning model and raise capital to transition into a nation-wide CLEC, offering complete switch-based voice & data product offerings. Barry managed both the financial and operational aspects of an 11 city central office design/build construction program.

  • David brings to The Launch Factory's life-sciences diverse experience and expertise. He currently leads the New Mexico Department of Health's tuberculosis and mycology laboratory, and is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. This dual role allows David to extend his thought leadership in both practical and academic environments. Prior to this David was an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico.

    David is a prolific publisher of research and academic literature, and has received research grants from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, and NASA.

    He has sat on federal advisory committees at the NSF and NASA, is the president of a regional branch of the American Society for Microbiology, and serves on the editorial board of the scientific journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology. He is a sought-after guest lecturer and contributor to numerous textbooks.

    As well, David consults to a diverse set of corporate clients including Delta Biodetection, Ovopure LLC, EcoFriend Technologies, Touchstone Studios, and Microsoft. He holds a Ph. D. in microbiology and immunology from Queen's University.

  • As a trusted advisory board member, Jim brings to The Launch Factory more than 20 years of experience in delivering products and technology for enterprise computing.

    Jim is CMO of iTKO, a Dallas-based vendor of no-code enterprise SOA software testing solutions.

    From 2001 to 2003, Jim served as webMethods' Senior Vice President of Technology Solutions, with responsibilities ranging from developing strategic alliances to driving new product direction and acquiring compatible companies to quickly enter into new markets.

    Prior to joining webMethods, Jim spent seven years at i2, helping it grow from $12m to over $1b in revenue. He founded their Canadian operations and served as President before moving to i2's Dallas headquarters and serving three years as CTO. During that time Jim drove technology innovation and consistency into a portfolio of over 100 products. He also managed key alliances and was very active in the field, gathering customers' requirements and evangelizing new products.

    He has also held key technology positions with Numetrix, now part of PeopleSoft, and Marcam, now part of Invensys.

    Jim is very active in the technology community, delivering presentations at key events as well as publishing articles. He is an early investor in, and sits on the board of advisors of a number of promising software companies including Civilian Pictures and BetweenMarkets. He holds two patents related to integration, and likes to take credit for the hockey frenzy currently sweeping Durango.

  • Mark has over 20 years of progressive entrepreneurial sales and marketing experience. The majority of his experience has been centered within the high technology marketplace across multiple industry segments. He has deep business development domain expertise in the supply chain planning, optimization, and e-business market segments. He is currently EVP of Sales for Kineticsware, a provider of integrated industry solutions for customers in the high tech, consumer goods, and apparel value chains.

    Mark recently served as Senior Vice President, Sales for WorldChain, a leading edge developer and implementer of high performance inventory management solutions with headquarters in Fremont CA. Prior to joining WorldChain, he served as President of eXcelon Corporation, a leading provider of high performance B2B infrastructure solutions, where he ran the company's XML-solutions business unit.

    Prior to eXcelon, Mark was President of C-bridge Internet Solutions, a position he assumed after his successful tenure as the company's Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development. While there he was part of the management team that took the company public on the NASDAQ.

    Previously Mark spent five years with i2 in various individual sales contributor, alliance and sales management roles where he helped drive the company from a $5M software company to a $350M business. He also helped pioneer and establish the advanced planning systems market with Enterprise Planning Systems where he spent six years and established central-US sales operations.

    Mark holds an Honors Bcomm. from Carleton University in Ottawa, and holds dual citizenship in the United States and Canada.


    R. Michael Martin, Advisory Board Member; Dallas, TX

  • Over the past two decades, Michael has developed strategic sales and business development expertise fueled by his passion for creating long-term satisfaction and shared value for customers and partners. Most recently, Michael led Initiate's channels expansion by securing a major reseller agreement and signing the company's first strategic agreements with major consulting houses.

    During his is seven years at i2, Michael consistently created incremental revenue and shared value through the partnerships he managed which were often the company's most valuable relationships. Playing an integral role in building i2's alliance program when the company was still a relative unknown, Martin led the development of i2's successful alliances with leading platform and complementary software partners. Subsequently, he led i2 through a series of strategic agreements with IBM that gained i2 preferred status in IBM's global supply chain and business-to-business (B2B) strategies, resulting in significant joint revenue that helped vault i2 over $1B in revenue.

    Throughout his career, Michael has typically been responsible for strategic accounts that require creative management in order to deliver optimized, long-term value. In the early 1990s, Michael promoted innovative technology to his customers that helped them shift into the dynamic open systems world of computing.

    When time permits, Michael enjoys cycling, skiing, traveling, reading, music and beer -- not necessarily in that order.
